What Sets Us Apart

Our customized career coaching is tailored to meet your specific goals and learning style.

We have no vested interest whether you stay in your current position, find another law job, or leave the law.

Customized Career Coaching

Some studies show that 80% of attorneys would do something else if they had to do it over again. Whatever the precise figure, it is clear discontent in the legal profession is widespread. Moreover, even attorneys who enjoy practicing law wonder they would be even happier if they changed employers, focused on a different area of law, or pursued something else entirely.

The good news is that, as lawyers, we have the potential to do a wide array of work. The skills that got us through college. law school, and the bar exam, are transferable to a virtually limitless kinds of positions.  In fact, with an estimated 25,000 lawyers leaving the profession every year, almost every conceivable high-level job counts former lawyers among its ranks. And with even more lawyers changing law jobs annually, the sheer volume of lawyers' career options can be daunting.

Since 2004, our exclusive focus has been to help lawyers make effective career transitions in and outside the practice of law.  Most of our clients have been practicing at least five years, and some have practiced more than 25.

How We Work

Most commonly we help clients identify what kinds of positions they would like, and then help them find such positions. For most clients, it takes longer to identify a new direction than it does to find a position once a direction has been identified.

We can structure our work to suit your schedule and preferences. Much of our work can be done over the phone or via email. We can of course meet with you confidentially in our offices. We also will structure our services to match your learning style.  Some of our clients prefer to work in a structured setting; they feel they tend to accomplish more when they need to meet specific deadlines.  Other clients have found that a more open-ended approach suits them better.  They don't like homework assignments and deadlines; they prefer to be left alone to follow an overall strategy or approach, and then decide when they want us to become involved in the career transition process.

Whatever your personal learning style, we often help clients accomplish the following:

  • Identifying transferable skills they enjoy
  • Identifying positions that meet certain financial requirements
  • Identifying employers (or entrepreneurial opportunities) that meet their geographic requirements and personal preferences
  • Crafting messages that are likely to attract the attention of their target audience (this can include resumes, CVs, cover letters, biographies, writing samples, business plans, etc.)
  • Preparing for interviews
  • Advising on salary negotiations and other post-offer issues.
